From Freedom to Think to the Courage to Create Solutions
As we celebrate International Entrepreneurship Day on 21st August and the spirit of India’s Independence, it is an important time to reflect on what true freedom means for our youth—the freedom to think, question, innovate, experiment, and create solutions for society.
I was delighted to conduct a 2-Day Startup Bootcamp on 13–14 August 2026 at Government Engineering College (GEC), Bharuch, organized by GEC Bharuch and its Student Startup and Innovation Policy (SSIP) Cell.
Creating a Culture of Innovation
The two-day bootcamp was filled with energy, creativity, enthusiasm, and innovative ideas. GEC Bharuch established its SSIP Cell in 2017, and since then, more than 100 student startup ideas have received support with approximately ₹30 lakh in financial assistance—a remarkable journey of nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship among students.
From Problems To Possibilities
As a Mentor & Guide of the SSIP Cell since its inception, it was particularly fulfilling to see students identify real-life challenges and transform them into potential entrepreneurial opportunities. Students worked in teams on challenges related to:
Environment
Women Safety
Construction
Transportation
Student & Campus Challenges
They learned to identify problems, understand users, develop innovative solutions, explore business models, and present their ideas. The most promising ideas were recognized for further development and support through the SSIP ecosystem. One of the most inspiring aspects of the bootcamp was witnessing young students move beyond simply discussing problems and begin thinking like problem-solvers and entrepreneurs.
My message to them was simple: Instead of asking, “Who will solve this problem?” ask yourself, “What solution can I create?”
I strongly believe that India’s youth possess enormous creativity and energy. When this energy is channelized towards innovation, social entrepreneurship, and nation-building, it can become one of the strongest forces for India’s development.
A Young Voice for Menstrual Health & Women's Safety
During the bootcamp, I met Khushi, a young student who courageously spoke about challenges surrounding menstrual hygiene among female students and presented an innovative idea related to women’s safety.
What impressed me most was not only her idea but her courage to openly discuss subjects that are still considered taboo in many parts of society. To appreciate her courage and encourage her entrepreneurial spirit, I gifted her a menstrual cup from an Indian startup. For me, it was not simply a gift—it was a small gesture of encouragement and a message:
“Don’t be afraid to talk about difficult problems. Be courageous enough to build solutions.”
Freedom to Think, Freedom to Create
This Independence Day, I believe that India’s true strength lies in young people who have the courage to question the status quo and the determination to transform challenges into opportunities.
Through Serve Happiness Foundation, Prerna Yatra, and our Social Entrepreneurship and Startup Bootcamps, I have had the privilege of interacting with thousands of students across India. Many have developed innovative ideas, explored entrepreneurship, and taken steps towards creating social impact.
We must not limit our youth to preparing for jobs. We must empower them to become innovators, entrepreneurs, problem-solvers, and job creators.

Building Viksit Bharat Through Young Innovators
My sincere appreciation to Dr. Pradip P. Lodha, Principal, GEC Bharuch; Prof. Vishal Doshi, SSIP Coordinator; Prof. Aashesh Shah and Prof. Sunil Shah, Co-Coordinators, and the entire GEC Bharuch team for creating such a vibrant ecosystem for student innovation.
The journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047 will require millions of young minds willing to identify problems, develop solutions, take risks, and create meaningful value for society.
Let us not just prepare our youth for the future—let us empower them to create the future.
