Building the Climate Leaders of Tomorrow
Nitin Tailor, Founder of Serve Happiness Foundation, was invited as a speaker at the 3-Day Youth Leadership Program on Climate Policy, Nature-Based Solutions, and Sustainability, held at the Indian Society of Community Education, Ahmedabad. Jointly organized by Paryavaranmitra and Terre des Hommes Germany, the program brought together more than 50 young leaders from Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Gujarat to explore innovative solutions for climate action and sustainable development.
Social Entrepreneurship for Climate Action
During his discussion, Nitin shared the vision and impact of the Narmada Prerna Yatra, highlighting how experiential learning and grassroots innovation can become powerful tools for addressing environmental challenges. He encouraged participants to view climate change not merely as an environmental issue but as an opportunity to build social enterprises that generate sustainable livelihoods while protecting natural resources.
Youth Leadership for a Sustainable Future
He emphasized that the future belongs to young innovators who can combine technology, community participation, and compassion to create practical, scalable solutions for society. Through inspiring stories of grassroots role models from the Prerna Yatra, he demonstrated how ordinary individuals are making extraordinary contributions toward environmental conservation and rural development
Drawing from the philosophy of Maa Narmada, Nitin introduced the vision behind the Narmada Prerna Yatra, a flagship initiative of Serve Happiness Foundation that goes far beyond conventional travel. The Yatra is designed as an immersive experiential learning journey where participants explore the deeper meaning of life through four pillars—Nature, Spirituality, Social Service, and Self-Exploration.
Learning from Experts and Policymakers
The program featured enriching sessions on climate finance, environmental governance, biodiversity conservation, circular economy, and nature-based solutions. Participants also had the opportunity to interact with eminent environmental leaders and policymakers, including Shri R. B. Barad, IAS, Chairman, Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB). His insights on reducing plastic pollution and promoting sustainable practices during the Narmada Uttarvahini Parikrama inspired participants to integrate environmental responsibility into everyday life.
Experiencing Culture, Community, and Sustainability
Beyond classroom discussions, the participants experienced Ahmedabad’s vibrant heritage through a Heritage Walk, explored Gujarat’s rich culture and traditions, enjoyed authentic local cuisine, and celebrated India’s diversity through folk music and cultural performances. These shared experiences strengthened friendships, encouraged collaboration across states, and reinforced the idea that sustainable development is rooted in cultural values and community participation.

The program concluded with a renewed sense of purpose among the participants to become ambassadors of environmental conservation in their respective communities.
